Craig Finn of The Hold Steady was kind enough to invite One Track Mind to his Brooklyn apartment, where he performed and discussed “Jackson,” a song off of his upcoming solo album.

The Swagdown counts down the best promotional items the office received this year. Watch part two here. Revel in the Sharktopus.
aerogare asked: You guys should auction off the swag that you haven't already destroyed/given away amongst yourselves. That might be a nice commentary on how much people are willing to spend on Shark Week toilet paper.

We sent Sean O’Neal to Washington to interview The Walkmen about “We’ve Been Had,” the first song they ever wrote. Then they played it for us. It’s very, very neat.

The Cheap Toy Roundup is back to making kids cry after a temporary hiatus, and we’re swinging for the ruining-Christmas fences with a collection of toys designed to dash tiny dreams. For people who like wonderful things, Bob Mould took One Track Mind to the apartment where he wrote most of Sugar’s Copper Blue and performed “Hoover Dam” for us. He is very open and gracious, and it is most enjoyable listening.

Here’s a taste:
10. Harry The Hipster-Hater, Who Really, Really Hates Hipsters. “This is all hipster music. I guess it’s okay for hipsters, but I’m not enough of a hipster to like hipster picks like this. Too bad I’m not hipster enough. Maybe I’d like it better if I were more of a hipster.” [His username: “notahipstersorry.”]

Good morning. It’s a new week, still a little bleary-eyed. Let’s ease into it with a nice Christmas carol from the Aussie’s in Little Red. Great? Great.
